+ The Samaritan traveler “who treated with mercy” the
half-dead man on the road is the epitome of a “neighbor.”
Maybe he was once half-dead
himself and got tended to with similar compassion.
To be “a slave of Christ” is
to see in suffering other the half that is still alive, and to reach out to
them with rescuing tenderness.
Who will the Lord place in our
path today to reach out to, who will need the touch of our smile, or good
words, our laughter, our tears, our joys , our suffering with them.?
We will know them when we see
them – and then the time has arrived for grace/action!
Let us be generous of heart,
compassionate and merciful – like Jesus, like the Father.
I give
you a new commandment: love one another as I have loved you. And you will be
regenerated and renewed forever.
