Mar 7 - 1st Week of Lent - Tuesday

+ The Prophet Isaiah, in the first reading today, tells us with poetic and imaginative language, that, “just as we see rain and snow coming down from the skies, from the heavens, and they do not return to the skies in the form of clouds, until they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats…”

“….so too shall God’s word be that goes forth from his mouth”- it shall be fertile, fruitful and effective – his word being his “W”ord – the second Person of the Holy Trinity – become incarnate in the womb of the Virgin of Nazareth, and born in a stable in Bethlehem, Emmanuel the Messiah, Jesus the Lord, the Savior, - who shall do God’s will – the accomplishment of the redemption of the human race by the self-sacrificial death of the Incarnate Word – an unspeakable murderous event, he loves us so.

But, that is the way and will of God! God’s thoughts are not man’s thoughts, God’s ways are not man’s ways: they are so much better, so much deeper, so much more far effective and reaching and dramatic.

This is how we, you and I, can be redeemed, saved from all that could harm us, pampered and nurtured and loved like a real, royal family member that we become, by our baptism into the Mystical Body of the Incarnate Word!

Since, we belong to this amazing family, Jesus, tells us that God is also our Father, he is holy and invites us to be holy too, he has given us daily bread, in sending himself to feed us with words and sacrament of holy communion with him, and forgiveness for sins that we own up to, repent of, speak aloud  and promise to amend the actions in the future. Then he emphasizes the vital and salvific necessity of our willingness to forgive those who disturb, invade and destroy the peace of our lives – who injure us in any way at all: mutual understanding, care and helpfulness and forgiveness makes the world go ‘round, the “spiritual realm” and world of which we are a part.

One, however, does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.
