Jun 4 - Monday 9th Week in OT

+ Today, again, Jesus cuts to the qwik! the progressive parable that Jesus tells the chief priests, scribes and elders is that in revealing himself and his redeeming love for mankind, God the Father knew that eventually he would be sending his own Son (Word) to speak most eloquently by every thought, word and deed, this astounding love – that those leading up to Jesus – the prophets, kings and other chosen leaders and spokesmen on his behalf – could not deliver convincingly enough. But he knew that it would mean the total misunderstanding, mistreatment and final murdering of this Beloved Son – but he did it anyway, the Word became Flesh – and he longed for fulfillment of his Father’s will – therefore, he longed for his own execution by unjust religious and civil authority.

WOW! what tremendous love, from one tremendous lover!

Yes, Jesus went all the way – for us and for our salvation! And three questions are: do we believe in such a God, but not only that, do we believe such a God, and to the hilt – do we believe him – and all of his self-revelation that we let is affect every single thought, word and deed of ours on any given day! Now, this, without an extra special grace, will be impossible for most of us – but are we at least trying and striving to make God, especially manifest in Jesus, in the Holy Spirit the central fact and focus of our day! Then, doing the best we can – using the tools he has given – especially as prescribed by the Catholic Church – we will be pleasing to God at the end of the day – and this is all that really matters!

This is the flavor of goodness that St Peter encourages the first Christians to add to their faith: seeking after all that God has to give them freely and lovingly – this goodness that is experienced when it is given away! The love that faith initiates only works when it is shared – there is no other way for it to operate.

So today, let us live a faith-filled dynamic day of giving what we receive from God away – his love, kindness, tender mercy, compassion and forgiveness – and we shall increase it in ourselves. If we don’t do this, we will lose what little joy, happiness and peace that the think we possess already.

Let the message of Christ, in all its richness, find a home with you; through him give thanks to God the Father. Alleluia!
